It all started on side-by-side treadmills at Barry’s Bootcamp — because nothing says “romance” like sweating through sprints and uphill runs. What began as an unexpected run-in quickly turned into something extraordinary. From the moment they met, it was clear to them both that it was the beginning of something special.

Their first date? A seven-hour adventure sparked by a friendly college basketball bet — Wake Forest (Chris) vs. Georgia Tech (Robert). Wake won, Robert picked up the tab, and the rest is history. Within two days, they were already off on a spontaneous trip to New York… which didn’t quite happen thanks to a surprise snowstorm. But the spark had ignited.

Since then, their journey has included navigating long-distance love, moving in together to their home in Brookhaven, and welcoming their beloved pup Ruffles — a Christmas gift from Robert to Chris in 2023. Along the way, they’ve built a life full of laughter, travel, Mexican food runs, and frequent visits to Barry’s. Chris keeps the to-do lists flowing, and Robert makes sure they’re mostly checked off — with running commentary to keep things interesting.

Robert first proposed to Chris on the anniversary of their very first date (with Ruffles in Chris’s lap, naturally). Chris followed suit on the anniversary of when they officially became a couple. Thoughtful, personal, and perfect.

They’re sometimes opposites: Chris is more reserved, highly organized, and compassionate. Robert is loyal, thoughtful, and always ready with a quip to make Chris smile. Together, they quote childhood movies, weather storms (literal and metaphorical), and dream about the adventures ahead — with a deep commitment to building a life rooted in partnership and love.
